Yorkshire Himalayan 1957

Initially aiming for the Parbati Valley, deep spring snows forced this party to instead establish their basecamp at Pulga. After eventually gaining access to the valley, Hunter and MacLean made an ascent of a difficult peak of roughly 4800m while Cowley, Hirst, Laughton and Evennett reached the east peak (~5300m) of Basunag. Despite the snows, they also succeeded in crossing the Rhotang Pass to the Chandra valley and from there accessing the Sissu glacier basin. No ascents were made, but the expedition reported that the area held great potential for future expeditions.
