Virjerab 2024
This international expedition led by Philip de-Beger made the first ascent of of Virjerab Sar (6616m), climbing the mountain via its northwest ridge at an approximate grade of AD. The team had originally planned to approach the mountain on ski/snowshoe via the Hispar Valley and Snow Lake but were discouraged from doing so due to the additional costs of High Altitude Porters and the snow conditions. Instead, they approached via the Vijerab from Shimshal. Around unsettled weather, they made two attempts on the peak, the second of which was successful. De-Beger, Heis and Mujirishvili reached the summit, Taylor having left the expedition during the approach when unexpected news required him to return home.
The expedition was a recipient of the Fred Iseman Award, which is adminsitered by the MEF.
