Everest - Kangshung Face
This US/Canadian/UK team tackled the difficult and spectacular ice of the 'Neverest' buttress on the E face of the South Col. Three members reached the S summit. Venables continued alone to the top of Everest, returning in whiteout conditions and spending the night at 8,500m.
