Daring Divas Defying Limits at 7000m

Manners and Dvorak had planned to attempt the first ascent of Chaukhamba III via a large rock buttress and the mountain's southeast ridge. They accessed their objective via the Satopanth Glacier which they found challenging to traverse. They recommend that future expeditions access the face from the adjacent valley by the Panpatia Glacier. Once on the route, the pair made good progress in spite of the loose nature of some of the rock. They were brought to a hault when a hauling accident caused the loss of key equipment. They were eventually forced to retreat on limited gear. Upon reaching the bottom of the face, they were met by a group of French climbers who assisted them on the final portion of the descent. The pair would also like to recognise the support of the Indian Mountaineering Federation in the aftermath of the retreat.

The expedition was a recipient of the Fred Iseman Award, which is adminsitered by the MEF.
