British Women's Nepalese 1974

After travelling overland to Nepal in a newly-purchased Ford Transit, the expedition left Kathmandu on 17 September, reaching the site of their base camp in Gokyo 17 days later. After two weeks spent reconnoitering the area, they elected to attempt some peaks further up the valley. Attempts were made on three peaks, with success on one, a snow-topped peak of roughly 5800m. Following these attempts, they relocated to the Khumbu valley where they made an ascent of Kala Patthar to admire the view, but were forced to abandon their planned attempt on Island Peak due to poor weather. Their final climbing excursion took place in the Chola Khola where they made an ascent of an unnamed 5660m peak.
