British Tien Shan 1993
This was a multinational team, with five climbers from Britain, nine from Belarus and two from Switzerland. Attempts on several of the lower peaks in the area were thwarted by heavy snow, but on the clearest day of the whole trip one of the British climbers achieved the summit of Khan Tengri (7,01Om) by the ordinary route. The extreme objective danger was made clear when a massive avalanche was witnessed which killed four people from another group.
