British Kantega S Ridge Integral

Having been refused a permit for the unclimbed Peak 43 (aka Kyashar), 6,769m, in the Khumbu area NE of Lukla, this pair applied for, and received, one for the ridge which includes the peak. Unfortunately, they found that Peak 43 was guarded by a very active icefall discharging into a lake ('a pleasant place to swim with a rucksack on!') and they therefore considered that the objective dangers were too great to continue. An attempt to climb the NE Face of Mera Norr (aka Pt 6,255m, forming the NW end of the Mera massif) was aborted at 5,600m due to new snow avalanches - hardly surprising considering that it snowed every day that they were in the area.
