Alpine Club Panmah Expedition 2024
From Askole, this team spent five days travelling to a base camp on the northern flank of the Chiring Glacier, arriving 18 September. From here, Dowidar-Jackson and Karim Hayat scouted the North Chiring Glacier, hoping to find a route to their planned ABC and original objective, PK5650. The glacier was revealed to be more of an icefall, with complex crevasses and other objective dangers preventing further progress. On 25 September Davis-Merry, Dowidar-Jackson and Hayat made the first ascent of Pk5650 (Peak Aesh - recorded height 5662m) via the peak's north ridge from a col at c5,500m. Kesner made a solo ascent of the peak the following day. Due to deteriorating weather and a forecast period of low pressure, the team left the area, relocating to the Misgar valley. Here, Davis-Merry and Kesner made an attempt on an unclimbed peak of approcimately 6,000m in the northwest of the valley, retreating from c5,600m due to severe cornice and serac hazards.
