This scientific expedition struggled due to the local conditions. They had intended to collect samples from historic supraglacial avalanches but high levels of snow fall and persistent fog had prevented these from melting out of the glacier. They were however successful in using Ground Penetrating Radar to image a key area of the glacier where they suspect a high density of landslides. They noted the increased difficulty of operating in Glacier Bay as a scientific expedition, citing the limited options for travelling into more remote areas of the park and the prohibitive costs associated with staying there for prolongued periods.
