South Georgia Survey 1955-6
The third of four expeditions led by Duncan Carse to the island of South Georgia which, from 1951-57, succeeded in mapping the interior of the island. The 1955/56 expedition was focused on filling in four major blank areas of the map which had so far not been adequately surveyed. In this they were successful, also managing to determine some of the uncertain segments from Shackleton's famous traverse of the island and accomplishing some twenty first ascents of various peaks.
