Granada Plateau 2024

Following a successful expedition in 2023, which identified the region's significant potential for extremely deep sinks, this large team travelled to the Granada plateau in 2024 with plans to explore the Tragedero de la Soledad river cave, along with two vertical pits known as Lorenzo’s Left and Right Eyes. The expedition overcame the 2023 sump in Tragadero de la Soledad, extending this massive streamway to 4.2km in length and a depth of 325m, making it the longest cave in Peru. Deep shafts were found that can now provide a back door into the continuation of this massive cave, and may lead to its confluence with even larger nearby river sinks. Despite a major flooding incident, caused by an unexpected storm, the team also successfully pushed both of the Lorenzo's Eye pits, reaching perched sumps at depths of 300-350m.
