Cambridge High Andes Expedition
Three glaciologists and two geologists carried out research in the areas of Cotopaxi (which was climbed), of Sangay, a highly active volcano, and in Loja Province of Ecuador. Specialist studies included 'cross-sectional studies of glacial margins' and 'transition of cryoconites to dirt-cones'. A short film was made of Sangay, on which a safer route than that taken in 1976 (when two were killed by the eruption) was reconnoitred.
